Lipsticks & its characteristics

Lipsticks:

            Lipsticks are basically dispersions of coloring matter in a base consisting of a suitable blend of oils, fats and waxes suitably perfumed and flavoured, moulded in the form of a stick and enclosed in a case.

Characteristics:

• It should cover the lips adequately with some gloss for long time.
• It should make the lip soft.
• The film must adhere firmly to the lips without being brittle and tacky.
• It should have a good degree of indelibility.
• It should have high retention of color intensity.
• Should be completely free from brittleness and be non-drying.
• It should be non-irritating.
• It should have a desirable degree of plasticity.
• It should have a pleasant odor and flavor.
• It should have smooth and shiny appearance.
• Freedom from bloom or sweating.
